Meet Dr. Shane-Ali

About Me

Hello, I’m Dr. ShaneAli, a Clinical Oncologist driven by purpose, compassion, and a deep desire to make cancer care more human, equitable, and hopeful. Over the years, I’ve cared for patients from all walks of life, often in resource-constrained environments—an experience that has shaped me into a clinician who treats not just disease, but the person behind the diagnosis.

About My Career

My journey began with a fascination for medicine's ability to heal, but I found my true calling in oncology—a field where science meets soul. I trained as a Clinical Oncologist in Egypt and currently practice at Mombasa Hospital, Kenya.

My clinical focus includes the treatment of solid tumors using chemotherapy and radiotherapy, palliative care, and integrated oncology. I also serve as a health advocate and educator, actively involved in cancer awareness campaigns, early detection initiatives, and patient navigation programs in underserved areas.

My Experience

  • Over eight years in clinical oncology, working in the private sector.

  • Experience managing a broad spectrum of cancers—from common malignancies like breast and colorectal to rare tumors.

  • Skilled in multidisciplinary care, combining systemic therapy, radiotherapy, and supportive care.

  • Speaker and mentor in community outreach programs, training health workers and volunteers.

Why Oncology?

Oncology chose me before I chose it. The field demands not only clinical acumen but also emotional resilience and deep empathy. Every patient I meet teaches me about courage, vulnerability, and the value of time. In cancer care, I found a higher purpose—to be a guide, a witness, and a source of strength in a patient’s most trying moments.

I’ve seen how late diagnosis and financial limitations deny many patients the chance for cure. That’s why I’m committed to bridging that gap, both inside the hospital and beyond it, through education, early detection, and community support.
